Police are investigating a string of incidents affecting the Saratoga Springs Resort in Walt Disney World. According to The Orlando Sentinel more than 20 reports of stolen electronics have been reported at the resort since late December. The Orange County Sherrif’s department believes that the burglarers gained access to rooms through rear sliding-glass doors.
The department arrested two Orlando resident, 25-year-old Jake Loren Blair and 19-year-old Minoska Guillen, this week after they were spotted trying to break into a room. After fleeing to Disney Springs, the two were caught and found to have several items with them (smartphones, iPods, a laptop, etc.) that belonged to guests at Disney’s Old Key West Resort and Saratoga Springs Resort.
As of now, both suspects remain in jail awaiting a state attorney’s filing decision. The investigation into whether these two suspects were solely responsible for the known burglaries is still open and active.
Disney says it is working closely authorities and has increased security at the resort. Additionally, housekeeping staff have been instructed to lock patio doors that may have been left open by guests and are informing guests via in-room literature about the importance of securing their valuables and locking their doors.
