Freeform, formerly ABC Family, is apparently looking to adapt the Rhiannon Thomas novel A Wicked Thing into a series for the channel. According to Deadline, the working title for the show is After and will look at what happens to Sleeping Beauty following the events of the classic fairytale. Writer and producer Tom Lynch — best known for his work on shows like The Secret World of Alex Mack and Caitlin’s Way — is also attached to the project. From Deadline:
After re-imagines Sleeping Beauty and what happens after happily ever. In it, Princess Aurora wakes up to the kiss of a handsome prince one hundred years after falling asleep to find her family long dead and her kingdom taken from her. She must transform into a warrior to regain it. Lynch is co-writing with Adam Lash and Cori Uchida (Eye Candy), and executive producing with Robin Schwartz for the Tom Lynch Co. and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
Since the show is still in development, there are no details on when the new program could possibly be hitting airwaves. In the meantime, A Wicked Thing is available on Amazon.
