Iger Responds to Sanders: “How Many Jobs Have You Created?”

According to The Wrap, Disney CEO Bob Iger posted a response to Senator Bernie Sander’s critical remarks made yesterday while the candidate was in Anaheim. A screenshot obtained by site allegedly shows Iger touting the economic impact of Disneyland while asking the Senator, “What have you contributed to the US economy?”:

In case you were wondering, Iger’s friends who “liked” or commented on the post at the time of the screenshot are Aaron LaBerge (Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at ESPN), Cafe McMullen (founder or the Fernando Pullum Community Arts Center in South Central Los Angeles which offers free art classes for children), Jim Wiatt (former head of the William Morris agency), and Kacey Pappas (a publishing consultant).

As The Wrap also notes, Iger has donated to the campaign of Hillary Clinton who Senator Sanders is running against for the Democratic presidential nomination.

At a campaign stop at the Anaheim convention center yesterday, Sanders accused Disneyland of underpaying its workers and cited them as an example of what he calls “the rigged economy.” Disneyland spokesperson Suzi Brown later responded to Sanders’ speech, saying, “Mr. Sanders clearly doesn’t have his facts right. The Disneyland Resort generates more than $5.7 billion annually for the local economy, and as the area’s largest employer has added more than 11,000 jobs over the last decade, a 65% increase. These numbers don’t take into account our $1 billion expansion to add a Star Wars-themed land, which will create thousands of additional jobs across multiple sectors.”
