Singer and former contestant on NBC’s The Voice Christina Grimmie was shot and killed on Friday, June 10th, after a concert in Orlando, FL. Her attacker was described by the Orlando Sentinel as a 21-year old man who did not know the singer personally. After her performance at The Plaza Live, she was signing autographs for fans when the man approached her. After killing Grimmie, he shot himself. Radio Disney released the following statement:
“We were fortunate to know and work with Christina Grimmie, a wonderful young woman who reveled in sharing her talent and passion for music with the world. At this sorrowful time, we extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, colleagues and fans.”
Following her time on The Voice, Christina Grimmie had a great partnership with Disney’s teen brands. She was a guest performer on Disney Channel’s sketch comedy series So Random! and made several visits to Radio Disney, including some in-studio performances.
