To celebrate Disneyland’s 61st birthday tomorrow, this week the Disneyland Resort announced a new ticket donation program for all Anaheim sixth grade students. For the next 10 years, Disneyland will be giving a one-day Park Hopper ticket to Anaheim sixth grade students who make a difference in their homes, schools or community. The company has dubbed this initiative “The Happiest Class on Earth: Anaheim Sixth Graders Making a Difference.”
The Happiest Class on Earth program will be open to all public and private schools located in the city of Anaheim, California that have sixth-grade classes. Schools located outside the city of Anaheim with a minimum of 50% of students currently residing in Anaheim are also eligible. A total of approximately 5,000 students will be eligible for the 2016/2017 school year.
Each school will be given a suggested list of actions that students can take individually or as a class, but schools are welcome to determine their own good works to address their needs. Teachers will document the actions and submit to the Disneyland Resort to receive their tickets. Schools will be encouraged to visit Disneyland Resort as a class field trip. The Disneyland Resort will also provide schools with post-field trip activities to use in the classroom, to make the visit educational.
The Disneyland Resort has a long history of supporting education and enriching the local Anaheim community, and this program is a unique way to partner with the residents of Anaheim to make our community stronger. Walt’s original park will celebrate its 61st anniversary on July 17th, 2016.
