If you frequent social media, you’ve likely heard by now that 1) the Guardians of the Galaxy are set to take over Disney California Adventure’s Tower of Terror, 2) that the Hollywood Tower sign has already been removed from the ride’s exterior, and 3) that scaffolding is being erected to begin further construction. Well, today the Disney Parks Blog is giving us a better look at why workers are getting a head start on the retheming the building prior to the Tower’s closure this January.
In the video above, you can see a model created by Disney Imagineers depicting what the Collector’s Fortress will look like once Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: BREAKOUT! opens next summer. As previously reported, the ride will be relatively similar to Tower of Terror in terms of mechanics but will feature random drop sequences, music from the films, and of course all the fun and humor of the Guardians films.
Meanwhile, the Tower of Terror is still in operation until January and is currently offering “late check outs” where fans can experience the attraction in complete darkness after dusk.
