Disney will host its “Quick Draw” YouTube LIVE series with artist and Disney Legend Floyd Norman tomorrow, Jan. 13, at 9:30 a.m. PT. During the live stream, Norman will recreate the very first Mickey Mouse comic, which debuted 87 years ago, on this date. He is the 81-year old cartoonist behind some of the world’s favorite Disney films, including The Jungle Book and Toy Story.
The real-time, freehand drawing session will also feature:
- A first-hand account from one of Disney’s first artists who worked alongside Walt in the 1950’s. Annie award-winning Floyd will discuss Disney film history and animation techniques.
- Audience Q&A – Viewers can ask Norman questions about animation, his first-hand experience working with Walt Disney, and get an inside look at the ideation behind some of Disney’s classics.
- The live stream will air from behind the desk once used by another Disney Legend and long-time Mickey Mouse comic artist, Floyd Gottfredson. That desk is believed to have been the origin of more Mickey Mouse drawings and sketches than any other desk in the world.
Viewers can tune in live on Disney’s YouTube Channel.
