Today, actor John Hurt passed away. He was 77. Although he’s probably most recognizable to Muggles for his role as Ollivander in the Harry Potter series or to Whovians as The War Doctor on Doctor Who, Hurt also had a number of Disney credits including voicing the Horned King in the controversial animated film The Black Cauldron. Some of his other notable credits include The Elephant Man and Midnight Express — both of which earned him Oscar nominations — as well as the sci-fi classic Alien.
He was survived by his wife Anwen Rees-Myers and sons Alexander and Nicholas.
