Rivers of Light to Debut February 17th at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Dining Packages Now on Sale

Update (2/14): Disney has added two additional showtimes to this weekend's performances. Saturday and Sunday will now see two shows: the originally scheduled 7:15 p.m. as well as an 8:30 p.m. FastPass+ reservations for these added shows are now available as well. Note: Disney's Animal Kingdom will close at 8 p.m. both days.

Update: (2/10): A soft opening performance of Rivers of Light has been scheduled for this evening. FastPass+ bookings are currently available for tonight's show at 7:15 p.m.

At long last, we know when Rivers of Light will open to the public (and it's sooner than you might think): February 17th. This morning — likely ahead of an intended Disney Parks Blog post — the Walt Disney World site updated to reveal the good news and FastPass+ bookings are now available. Additionally, dining packages are now on sale for the show that offer guests premium seating. Breakfast and lunch packages will begin February 17th, with dinner packages starting March 12. Oddly, the show is currently scheduled to only perform on Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesday and Thursdays at 7:15 until April 9th when it will go nightly and move to a later time.

Tusker House Restaurant

  • Graze on a bountiful buffet brimming with African flavors at Tusker House Restaurant in Harambe. Please note: While this dining package is available for all meal periods, Guests must arrive to dine no later than 2 hours and thirty minutes prior to showtime.

As you're likely aware, Rivers of Light was originally set to premiere on April 22nd of last year before getting delayed just a few weeks prior that date. Instead, a temporary show based on Disney's sleeper hit The Jungle Book performed in the area built for Rivers. After that production came and went without any word on Rivers, many assumed the worst for the show until Cast Member previews began in November. Most recently, a preview for select bloggers and social media influencers was held, which led to many images and videos of the show popping up online:
