If you love seeing Disney’s hit films on the big screen, surely you love them on the big big screen. Clearly the Studio itself does as they’ve announced the extension of their deal with IMAX to bring their tentpole films to the large format cinema locations. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new deal will bring Disney’s slate through 2019 to IMAX, including Beauty and the Beast, Incredibles 2, Toy Story 4, The Last Jedi, the Untitled Han Solo film, Black Panther, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Captain Marvel, Avengers: Infinity War and its sequel, A Wrinkle in Time and Mulan. Additionally, Disney and IMAX will co-create exclusive marketing materials for these runs.
In a statement, IMAX Entertainment CEO Greg Foster said, “Disney is at the top of its game, offering fans around the world highly original and diverse movie-going entertainment, which aligns perfectly with the IMAX experience as the most captivating and unique theatrical presentation.” As THR also notes, IMAX has recently made other deals with Disney, including a pact with ABC to debut their upcoming series The Inhumans this September.
