Walt Disney World has announced that the Once Upon a Time castle projection show will be under refurbishment from March 5 to March 9. The Wishes fireworks show will continue to run during that time. While the reason for the refurbishment was not revealed, it may be tied to preperations for the upcoming “Happily Ever After” nighttime spectacular which is being billed as featuring “state of the art projection mapping technology.” It may be Disney is taking this time to upgrade the projection equipment. The new show is scheduled to debut May 12.
Once Upon a Time debuted in November 2016 and is based on a similar show at Tokyo Disneyland. The first projection mapping show at Cinderella Castle was “The Magic, The Memories, and You” and premiered in 2011.
