To promote the upcoming home video release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Alan Tudyk answered fan questions on Twitter fro Lucasfilm in San Francisco. In addition to answering questions about his character K-2SO, he referenced his reported feud with Anthony Daniels who portrays C-3P0 in the Star Wars saga films.
Q: Any inspirations that you pulled from to help create the character of K2-SO?
A: He was inspired by the script.
Q: How did it feel when they said that you had landed a part in Star Wars?
A: He was offered the role by director Gareth Edwards so he was confused as to why it was so easy.
Q: What was your favorite behind-the-scenes moment?
A: While filming the running-on-the-beach scene that got cut he got to swim with a whale shark.
Q: If you were to portray another Star Wars character, who would it be and why?
A: He would want to be Chewbacca’s hairstylist who did a good job covering his bald spot in The Force Awakens.
Q: What’s it like playing the sassiest droid in the galaxy?
A: It is pretty cool. Anthony Daniels is the sassiest droid in the galaxy off screen, but Tudyk prefers to be sassy on-screen. “You bring in more friends with honey than with vinegar, Anthony” Anthony Daniels reportedly cursed out Tudyk at the Rogue One premiere.
Q: Did you improvise any scenes?
A: One of his favorite improvised moments is when K-2SO says, “I will be there for you Jyn… Cassian said I had to.”
Q: If you could play any other character in Rogue One who would it be?
A: Jyn, she is the lead.
Q: Does droid heaven exist?
A: Yes. God in droid heaven is Johnny5 from the Short Circuit movies.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be available on Digital HD on Friday, March 24.
