Recently the Shanghai Disney Resort began offering paid upgrades that give guests priority status on some of the park’s top attractions. Dubbed Disney Premier Access, this option essentially amounts to a paid FastPass.
Premier Access comes in two different forms, each with its own peak and off-peak pricing, per the Shanghai Disneyland website:
Disney Premier Access
- Peak Price: RMB 150 ($21.75 USD)
- Regular Price: RMB 120 ($17.50 USD)
Disney Premier Access Set
- Peak Price: RMB 600 ($87 USD)
- Regular Price: RMB 480 ($69.75 USD)
Premier Access passes are available for seven attractions:
- Soaring Over the Horizon
- TRON Lightcycle Power Run
- Buzz Lightyear Planet Rescue
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
- The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
- Peter Pan’s Flight
The launch of this new optional service follows reports of some scalpers attempting to sell FastPasses in the park. In fact, the site makes clear that Premier Access passes are non-transferable and that guests will have their photo taken at the time of purchase so that their identity can be verified before boarding the attraction. Additionally, it could serve to alleviate some of the complaints regarding long waits throughout the park. That said, it certainly won’t do much to curb criticisms that the park is overpriced (in truth, pricing is about on par with the American Disney parks, if not even a bit cheaper in some cases). It’s also worth noting that the launch comes as Disneyland in California is looking to introduce its own paid FastPass service called MaxPass.
Disney Premier Access passes can be purchased at Avenue M Arcade at Mickey Avenue for all attractions or at Intergalactic Imports in Tomorrowland, Hundred Acre Goods in Fantasyland, or Laughing Monkey Traders in Adventure Isle for attractions in those specific lands.
