Disney is no stranger to releasing covers of their classic songs. Think the DisneyMania collections or last year’s We Love Disney compilation featuring pop stars singing their favorite Disney tunes. Well now something similar but much different has arrived — an album of metal covers. Yes, as Rolling Stone reports, Disney has just brought Metal Disney to America following its release in Japan last year. Wanna hear? Here’s a sample:
Unlike other compilations that feature multiple artists, this album is by a single artist known as the D-Metal Stars. Rolling Stone notes that they aren’t just anybody’s either:
The well-respected heavy metal musicians that comprise the “D-Metal Stars” include Obsession vocalist Mike Vescera, who’s previously worked with Yngwie Malmsteen, and former Ozzy Osbourne bassist Rudy Sarzo. The band is rounded out by fellow Obsession guitarist John Bruno and drummer BJ Zampa, who’s played with Dokken, among others
In addition to the “Beauty and the Beast” cover heard above, other tracks include “I See the Light,” “A Whole New World,” “It’s a Small World,” “Go the Distance” and more. To listen to the album yourself, check it out on Spotify and iTunes.
