An armed man shut down roads to the Orlando International Airport as the authorities deal with the incident which is located at the Terminal A Rental Car Area. The airport says there are minimal impact to operations, but the Florida Highway Patrol advise everyone to stay clear of the airport.

UPDATE 9:06 ET: Orlando Police have just updated that there is no active shooter and the suspect has been contained. No shots have been fired.
UPDATE 9:16 ET: The airport has said that their entrances remain open, but that the area may be congested. They suggested passengers contact their airline for specific information.

UPDATE 9:28 ET: This is the latest update from the Orlando Police Department: “Armed suspect is contained but not in custody. Suspect is speaking with a crisis negotiator.”
UPDATE 9:44 ET: Due to the situation, the FAA has initiated a Traffic Management Program in effect for flights arriving at the Orlando International Airport. Flights destined for Orlando may be delayed.
UPDATE 10:08 ET: The gunman is now in custody and everyone is safe. The Orlando Police are expected to give more details at a forthcoming news conference. Normal traffic flow is resuming and all flights will return to normal operation.
UPDATE 10:56 ET: As it turns out, the weapon held by the subject was a simulated weapon. It was not a gun. The suspect asked the officers to shoot him and was obviously in mental distress. This is an image of the fake gun:
