The Disneyland Resort is already home to a number of Pixar-inspired attractions, including Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters, Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, Toy Story Midway Mania, Mike and Sully to the Rescue, A Bugs Land, and Cars Land, but the parks are set to introduce a whole host of new Pixar experiences. Today at the D23 Expo, it was announced that Paradise Pier would soon be renamed Pixar Pier and bring more characters to the waterfront. According to the Disney Parks Blog, “You will discover whimsical neighborhoods filled with your friends from The Incredibles, Inside Out and even more of your pals from Toy Story. Building upon the evolution of Disney California Adventure park that began in 2007, we are building more new worlds for you to step into and enjoy your favorite stories.” Pixar Pier is set to open in 2018.
When the redone Pier does premiere, the resort will also usher in a limited time celebration called Pixar Fest. At Disneyland park, this will include a new fireworks show and bring the Pixar Play Parade across the esplanade for the first time. Incidentally, while Play Parade heads to Disneyland, Paint the Night will head to Disney California Adventure.
Stay tuned for more from this year’s D23 Expo.
