A few weeks ago, fans were slightly perplexed when a new (decidedly low-key) sign for the Muppet*Vision 3D attraction appeared. Later, it became apparent why the new marquee read “Grand Arts Theatre” when the BaseLine Taphouse and Grand Avenue re-theming nearby was announced. However, today as the Disney Parks Blog shared more details on Grand Avenue, it was confirmed that Muppets Courtyard will soon be known as Grand Park. The Blog describes the area — which also includes Pizza Rizzo and Mama Melrose’s — as an “urban square off Grand Avenue.”
While the Parks Blog notes that Muppet*Vision will continue to perform inside the Grand Arts Theatre, this news will surely have Muppet fans worried. It also feels like quite a reversal of fortunes from just a few months ago when the area was dubbed Muppets Courtyard, Pizza Rizzo was introduced, and new Muppet shows were added to Liberty Square in Magic Kingdom. Alas, we’ll just have to wait to see what Grand Avenue and the overall reimagining of Disney’s Hollywood Studios means for the Muppets.
