Courtney Holt, who started working for Disney when the company acquired Maker Studios and was most recently the EVP of media, has left to accept a new position at the streaming service Spotify. As Variety reports, Holt will serve as the head of Spotify Studios and Video — a title that makes sense given his background in digital content and media. In his role, Holt will help lead Spotify’s efforts in creating original video and podcasts.Notably, this comes as Spotify competitor Apple Music has invested in original programming for the platform, including debuting a long-form version of Carpool Karaoke based on the popular Late Late Show segment. Spotify reps confirmed Holt’s hire to Variety, but declined to comment further.
