Recently Disney announced that they will be launching an ESPN and Disney OTT services that will deliver content directly to subscribers. Today Disney announced that Agnes Chu will oversee video programming for Disney’s OTT service, including setting content strategy and programming plans and partnering with The Walt Disney Studios, Disney-ABC Television Group, Disney Digital Media, Pixar Animation, Marvel Entertainment, and Lucasfilm to develop and produce the best entertainment for this groundbreaking service. She will report directly to Kevin Mayer and the BAMTech team.
Chu worked for Bob’s office during the opening of Shanghai Disney Resort and the relaunch Star Wars franchise. Before that she worked at ABC and has experience creating original content for digital platforms.
Agnes joined the company in 2008 to lead the production of compelling, original video content for DATG’s ground-breaking digital platforms, including an Emmy-nominated short-form series that extended the storytelling of ABC’s global phenomenon, LOST. Additionally, she led the team behind the first live-streaming production of red carpet and behind-the-scenes content from the Academy Awards, creating a fresh new way to connect viewers and increase their engagement with this iconic event. Agnes’ broad experience also includes filmmaking – she began her career with Alex Gibney at Jigsaw Productions, working with acclaimed directors Martin Scorsese and Clint Eastwood on films such as THE BLUES and Oscar-nominated Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room. Most recently, Agnes served as executive of Story and Franchise Development at Walt Disney Imagineering.
