After just 19 days in theatres, Pixar’s new film Coco has already become the all-time highest-grossing film in Mexico. The movie, which will open here in the U.S. on November 22nd, has now raked in 824 million Pesos or around $43.1 million according to Variety. Incidentally, the previous box office champion in that country was another Disney release: The Avengers. Director Lee Unkrich took to Twitter to celebrate the accomplishment and send his thanks to those who have helped Coco top the Mexican box office three weeks in a row.
Coco will open domestically next Wednesday and screen alongside the new short “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure.” You can check out Jeremiah’s review of both films here and here.
