According to The Hollywood Reporter, Joe Johnston (Captain America: The First Avenger, Honey I Shrunk the Kids) will be directing reshoots for Disney’s upcoming The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. The film is scheduled for 32 days of additional photography. According to the report, original director Lasse Hallstrom is still involved with the film and will lead post-production work but was not available for the reshoots.
“The film is in very good hands in London while I’m away,” said Hallstrom in a statement to THR. “I will return to post production after the holidays.”
Due to the nature of the film, it is possible that they were unable to wait for Hallstrom’s availability due to the need to release the film during the holiday season.
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is scheduled for release November 2, 2018.
