The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced that 10 films remain in the running in the Visual Effects category for the 90th Academy Awards. 4 of the 10 films on the shortlist have connections to The Walt Disney Company.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Kong: Skull Island (visual effects by ILM)
Star Wars: The Last Jedi (visual effects by ILM)
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (visual effects by ILM)
In addition, several 20th Century Fox films were included in the list:
Alien: Covenant
The Shape of Water
War for the Planet of the Apes
Nominations for the 90th Academy Awards will be announced on Tuesday, January 23, 2018.
The 90th Oscars will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood, and will be televised live on the ABC at 6:30 p.m. ET/ 3:30 p.m. PT. The Oscars also will be televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide.
