Disney’s Animal Kingdom Welcomes Newborn Hippo

Over the weekend, a new animal joined the Disney’s Animal Kingdom family. As the Disney Parks Blog shares, a baby hippopotamus was born to mother Tuma on Saturday night. This marks the park’s first hippo birth in 13 years. Currently the animal care team is allowing Tuma and the calf to bond and so the gender and weight of the newborn are unknown and a name for the little one has yet to be decided. However, in case you were wondering, the average hippo weights between 60 and 110 pounds. Tuma and her calf can be spotted on Kilimanjaro Safaris and during the Wild Africa Trek experience.
