John Nee Named Publisher of Marvel Entertainment

ComicBook.com is reporting that John Nee has been named Marvel Entertainment’s new publisher. He replaces Dan Buckley who held the position for 15 years and is being promoted to Marvel’s President.

Buckley told ComicBook.com, “As the publisher, John will lead our business strategy for publishing as a whole and focus on growing the comics and prose business. All business aspects of publishing report up to John. Creative and editorial planning will still have oversight from C.B. Cebulski, Joe Quesada, and myself.”

Nee was President of Wildstorm when it was sold to DC Comics in 1998. Following the sale he became a Vice President at Marvel’s major competition. He left in 2010 when he founded and became CEO of Cryptozoic Entertainment, a tabletop gaming, trading cards, and collectibles company.

The naming of Nee will allow Buckley to focus on brand management, animation, digital media, and franchise planning.

There has been a lot of changes at Marvel recently with C.B. Cebluski being named Editor-in-Chief in November of last year.
