As has become tradition, the nominees for this year’s Academy Awards were announced bright and early this morning (at least early for Los Angeles). For the 90th Oscars, Disney managed to score a total of 10 nominations, including honors for Beauty and the Beast, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Coco, and more. Additionally, while we haven’t included them in our official tally, it’s worth noting that Fox racked up 27 nominations, including Best Picture nominations for The Post, The Shape of Water, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Lastly, Warner Brother’s Kong: Skull Island picked up a nomination for Visual Effects as well, which is notable because Disney’s Industrial Light & Magic worked on the effects for that film.
