Disney’s streak of bringing their animated classics into the 21st century with live-action remakes is set to continue as the studio has now picked a director to helm a new version of Pinocchio. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paul King has been selected to lead the film. King is coming off the success of Paddington 2, which received rave reviews from critics and audiences, boasting a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Previously, Skyfall director Sam Mendes had been attached to direct but apparently dropped out last year. Meanwhile, Wonder scribe Jack Thorne is reportedly penning the latest rewrite of the script. THR says Disney is hoping to start production on Pinocchio this fall.
