Disney has announced which Downtown Disney locations will be closing to make way for their upcoming hotel. Last October, Disneyland announced they were moving forward with plans to create a fourth hotel between the Disneyland Hotel and Downtown Disney. The as-yet-unnamed hotel will feature 700 rooms.
According to the Orange County Register, the businesses that will be closing include:
- Alamo Rent-a-Car
- AMC 12 Theatres
- Earl of Sandwich
- ESPN Zone
- Rainforest Cafe
- Starbucks (only the west side location)
- In addition, Disney Vacation Club and Walt Disney Travel will move to new locations.
All will close by June 30th with demolition to begin in early July. Employees of the business were notified of the closures on Tuesday. At ESPN Zone, employees can receive a $500 bonus by remaining until June 30th. The new hotel is expected to open in 2021.
