While the revelation that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge would be home to a cantina, rumors began to spread that the location would be the first public area at Disneyland Park to serve alcohol. Today, the Disney Parks Blog announced new details on Oga’s Cantina and confirmed that alcoholic beverages will be available.
- The Parks Blog describes Oga’s Cantina as “the kind of establishment that attracts some of the most interesting and disreputable characters in the galaxy.”
- However, perhaps the most interesting part of the location isn’t the backstory but the menu.
- According to the post, the cantina will serve drink choices for kids and “libations for adults.”
- Notably, while alcohol has been available at Disney California Adventure, the only location in Disneyland park that serves the hard stuff is private Club 33.
- Disney spokesperson Liz Jaeger explained the decision for the park expansion to serve alcohol, telling the OC Register, “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be a completely immersive true-to-story experience, Given our commitment to offering fans an immersive cantina experience, we felt this was an opportunity to offer alcohol and non-alcohol based beverages in the context of the story.”
- Additionally, the OC Register’s article says that beverages will include “proprietary beer, wine and outer space themed cocktails.” However, they also point out that beverages, “must be consumed inside the cantina only, leaving the rest of the park alcohol-free.”
- It should be noted that Magic Kingdom was also a dry park until beer and wine were first served at the Beauty and the Beast-themed eatery Be Our Guest. Since then, alcohol offerings have expanded to other dining locations around the park.
- As for entertainment, guests will enjoy the musical stylings of RX-24, the former StarSpeeder 3000 pilot droid we first met in Star Tours. RX-24 has re-envisioned himself as the cantina’s DJ. As quirky and talkative as ever, he’s still trying to do his best on the job.
- Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge — including Oga’s Cantina — is set to open next year.
