Following a one-day auction that found 21st Century Fox bidding against Comcast for Sky, the latter has proven victorious.
- According to CNBC, Comcast had the winning bid that comes in at $39 billion.
- After three rounds of bidding, Comcast offered £17.28 per share compared to Fox’s £15.67 per share,
- Prior to today’s auction, Comcast had bid £14.75 per share while Fox (with permission from Disney) had last offered £14.
- Despite Comcast’s victory, Disney will still retain 39% of Sky, assuming its deal to acquire many 21st Century Fox assets closes successfully.
- It’s also worth noting that this battle for Sky was seen by many to be a rematch of sorts as Comcast also sought to acquire Fox before conceding to Disney
