If you’ve ventured over to the ubiquitous search engine Google today, October 25th, you may have encountered a “Google Doodle” celebrating artist Tyrus Wong on what would be his 108th birthday.
- Wong is perhaps best known for his work on the Walt Disney Animated Classic Bambi.
- Despite only working for the studios for three years (between 1938 and 1941), Wong’s work became legendary — literally.
- He was named a Disney Legend 2001.
- Sadly, Wong passed away in December 2016 at the age of 106.
- In September of last year, an episode of PBS’s American Masters focused on Wong and his amazing artistry.
- You can view that special in full until October 31st.
- Of course, you can also check out the Google Doodle about Wong on Google today or watch the clip via YouTube above.
