A severe thunderstorm in Galveston, TX has delayed the return of Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Wonder. Guests scheduled to sail from the Galveston Port this evening are being asked to delay their arrival by at least four hours.
What’s happening:
- Due to a severe thunderstorm in southeast Texas, Disney Cruise Line has asked guests scheduled to sail on the Disney Wonder, to delay their arrival.
- The port is currently closed to all inbound and outbound traffic.
From Disney Cruise Line:
- Guests visiting the Disney Cruise Line website will see a weather advisory notice. This is what it says:
- “Galveston, Texas, is currently experiencing a severe thunderstorm with high winds, heavy rains and low visibility. The channel from the Gulf of Mexico to the Port of Galveston is currently closed to all inbound and outbound vessel traffic.
At this time, the Disney Wonder is outside the channel waiting for the weather to improve and for the port to reopen. Once the port reopens, the onboard guests will need to debark the ship before boarding can begin for today’s sailing.
As a result of this weather delay, we ask that guests postpone their arrival to the terminal by at least four (4) hours after your selected port arrival time. Guests should arrive no later than 6:00 p.m. today.
Since the arrival of Disney Wonder to Galveston is dependent on the weather improving and channel reopening, it is possible that further delays may occur. We will continue to monitor the conditions closely and will provide updates as needed. For the most up-to-date information on this delay, guests may call 1-866-325-4243.”
