D23 has announced that presale tickets for the upcoming production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid at the Hollywood Bowl will be available tomorrow, April 2.
- The Little Mermaid is returning to the Hollywood Bowl for performances on May 17 and 18 to celebrate 30 years of the Disney animated classic.
- The productions will feature an all-star cast of performers including:
- Lea Michele as Ariel
- Harvey Fierstein as Ursula
- Cheech Marin as Chef Louis
- Peter Gallagher as King Triton
- Leo Gallo as Prince Eric
- Ken Page as Sebastian
- Special guest Alan Menken will also be present to perform the music of his Oscar and Grammy-winning score, accompanied by a full orchestra, as the film plays on the Bowl’s big screen.
- The iconic venue will also be transformed into the “Hollywood Fish Bowl Dive-In Theater” to complete the “Under the Sea” experience.
- This transformation will include a full program of aquatically-themed previews of coming attractions, nostalgic animated snack bar commercials and the 1938 Silly Symphony cartoon Merbabies featuring the world premiere of a live original score composed and performed by 17-year-old piano sensation, Emily Bear.
- Guests are also encouraged to take part in a Little Mermaid-themed costume contest with special photo opportunities before the show.
- And to really finish of the “Under the Sea” look, the award-winning creative studio Mousetrappe provide state-of-the-art projection mapping technology to project newly created and breathtaking animated “living scenery” onto the facade of the Hollywood Bowl.
