Disney Shares New Details, Closer Look at Disney Skyliner

Walt Disney World offers guests all kinds of ways to get around the resort to enjoy everything it has to offer and this fall, it will add one more. The Orlando Sentinel shared a closer look at the upcoming Disney Skyliner.

Update (4/17/2019):

  • The Disney Parks YouTube channel shared a video of the inside of the Disney Skyliner cabins.
  • Disney’s Thomas Mazloum and Dean Huspen talk about the size and designs of the cabins, pointing out how they will be cross ventilated and fitted with reflective panels. Check out the video below:

  • The image above shows off our first look at the interior at one of the Disney Skyliner gondolas.
  • The Orlando Sentinel also provided some new numbers regarding the new transportation system coming to Walt Disney World:
    • The gondolas will travel at approximately 11 mph on more than six miles of cable.
    • A typical ride on the Disney Skyliner will last between five and 15 minutes.
    • The gondolas will travel at heights ranging from 15 feet up to about 60 feet in the air.
    • Twin wooden benches (like the one seen in the photo) will carry up to 10 guests.
  • The Disney Skyliner will conveniently connect Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot to four resort hotels, with stations at:
    • Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
    • Disney’s Pop Century Resort
    • Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
    • Upcoming Disney’s Riviera Resort
  • The Disney Skyliner will open this fall.

  • Disney’s Caribbean Beach to Disney’s Hollywood Studios: 5 to 6 minutes
  • Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort to Disney’s Pop Century Resort or Disney’s Art of Animation Resort: less than 6 minutes
  • Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort to Disney’s Riviera Resort: About 5 minutes
  • Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort to International Gateway at Epcot: About 15 minutes
  • Disney’s Riviera Resort to International Gateway at Epcot: About 9 minutes

Fun facts:

  • Several gondolas will be adorned with graphics based on Disney films, attractions and characters.
  • Guest may jump into a gondola where from the ground it will look like Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto or Chip & Dale are riding along with them.
  • Several Disney animated films will be represented including:
    • Beauty & the Beast
    • Frozen
    • Lilo & Stitch
    • Moana
    • Peter Pan
    • The Princess and the Frog
    • Ralph Breaks the Internet
    • Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
    • Zootopia
