Mickey Mouse is obviously an international icon. So it comes as no surprise that he will be the subject of a new themed Shinkansen bullet train in Japan next month.
- According to SoraNews24, Japan Railways (JR) will be putting into service the first ever Disney-themed Shinkansen bullet train next month, celebrating Mickey’s 90th anniversary.
- The each of the train’s six cars will feature illustrations of Mickey enjoying a summer trip.
- The interiors of the cars also feature a touch of Disney with images of Mickey ears on each seat.
- There will also be special merchandise featuring artwork from the train. Merchandise will include pouches, notebooks, pins and even a toy train.
- This new merchandise will be available for purchase onboard the train as well as in the stations its stops at and adjacent shopping centers.
- Despite its Disney theme, the train will not take guests to Tokyo Disneyland or DisneySea. Instead, the train will explore the island of Kyushu in southwestern Japan.
- The train is part of Japan Railways’ Go! Waku Waku campaign which encourages travelers to explore new areas.
- The train will be operated by Kyushu JR and will be put into service on May 17 and will run for an undisclosed amount of time.
