Disney’s Animal Kingdom is welcoming yet another new family member, with the Disney Parks Blog announcing that a baby gorilla was born yesterday.
- On Wednesday, May 1st, western lowland gorilla Kashata gave birth.
- To celebrate the arrival, the park even held a gender reveal party for the infant.

- That’s right: it’s a girl! And her name is Grace.
- The name was chosen in honor of the GRACE gorilla sanctuary in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which is dedicated to helping gorillas orphaned by poaching.
- Grace and Kashata are part of a gorilla family troop that can be seen along the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
