Actress and singer, Doris Day has passed away at her home early this morning. Se was 97 years old.

- Beloved singer and actress, Doris Day, passed away at her California home early this morning surrounded by friends.
- Deadline reports that her death was confirmed by The Doris Day Animal Foundation.
- She died of pneumonia, and until recently had been in excellent health.
- The star was often lovingly referred to as “the girl next door” for her pleasant demeanor and sweet smile.
- While she never worked directly with the Walt Disney Studios, Day did release a popular song, titled “Disney Girls.”
- Day’s acting career spanned nearly three decades, in which she’s credited with over 40 movie and television roles.
- However, it might be her musical voice that she’s best known for.
- Day first performed what would become her signature song, “Whatever Will Be, Will Be (Que Sera, Sera)” in the Alfred Hitchcock thriller, The Man Who Knew Too Much.
- She would go on to perform the song in other films and it would eventually become the theme song for her self-titled TV show.
- After her show went off the air, she retired from acting and focused on animals, founding The Doris Day Animal Foundation.
- Day had one child, Terry Melcher who passed away in 2004.
