A man has been arrested in the death of former Mickey Mouse Club Mousekeeter, Dennis Day. Daniel James Burda was taken into custody on July 5.
What’s happening:
- According to ABC News 36 year old Daniel James Burda has been arrested in the death of Dennis Day.
- Oregon State Police officials say Burda was taken into custody on Friday July 5.
- He was arrested under suspicion of “manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, abuse of a corpse, criminal mistreatment and identity theft.”
- As of June 26, Burda was already being held in the Jackson County Jail for violating probation for an earlier robbery charge.
- Police Captain Timothy R. Fox said Burda worked for Day and his husband doing jobs around their house.
- The police declined to comment further about Burda’s association with the couple, however, neighbors report that he lived with them.
- Day was 10 years old when he was cast as an original member of The Mickey Mouse Club remaining with the group for two seasons.
- Day’s husband Ernest Caswell, who suffers from memory loss, reported Day missing in July 2018.
- As of February 2019, he had not been found and his family spoke with Deadline stating that the investigation hand been handled poorly.
- Day’s car was later found along the Oregon coast. Additionally the police report said Day left his dog with a friend on the day he disappeared which was out of character for the former actor.
- Police discovered a body at Day’s and Caswell’s home in April. In June police identified the body as Day’s but were not able to use dental records or DNA for confirmation.
- Additionally, last month two women were charged with stealing jewelry and Day’s car.
- Day was born in 1942. He and Caswell have been living in Oregon since the 1980s and were married in 2009.
