Go go gadget remake! Disney is reportedly working on a new live-action film based on the popular animated series Inspector Gadget, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
- Disney has tapped Saturday Night Live writers Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell to pen the script for the new movie based on the animated series from the 80s.
- The pair is also slated to write the Home Alone reboot for Disney+.
- Aladdin producers Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich will produce the new movie under their Rideback banner.
- Ryan Halprin, also of Rideback, will oversee the project.
- Inspector Gadget was an American-Canadian cartoon series produced for the syndicated market in the 80s and 90s.
- It followed the clumsy, bionic Inspector Clouseau who could wield a wide array for gadgets built into his body.
- The series has seen several spinoffs, video games and even a 1999 live-action film from Disney that starred Matthew Broderick as the comical inspector.
- It is unclear at this time if the film would be planned for a theatrical release or for Disney+.
