Whether you’re a casual moviegoer or the most avid film buff, you’ve no doubt been exposed to one of the remarkable films released by Fox Searchlight. Marking the 25th anniversary of this award-winning studio, a supercut was released today to showcase their astonishing filmography.
What’s Happening:
- Fox Searchlight is a filmmaker-oriented studio that focuses on distinctive films helmed by world-class auteurs and exciting newcomers. By blending specialty films with trademark art-house fare, Fox Searchlight’s leadership has solidified its position in the independent film marketplace.
- As a specialty studio, Fox Searchlight traditionally makes smaller films, more dramatic films, and films that cater to adult audiences.
- This officially released supercut is a fantastic video to watch and try and spot as many favorites as you can to help celebrate a quarter of a century of the prestigious studio.
- You may immediately recognize one of the four Best Picture winners, Slumdog Millionaire, 12 Years a Slave, Birdman, and The Shape of Water. In total, Fox Searchlight has earned 153 Oscar nominations and 39 wins, as well as 116 Golden Globe nominations and 26 wins.
- Other classic and award winning films from the studio include (but are most definitely not limited to) Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Boys Don’t Cry, Black Swan, and Juno
- You may also recognize the fan favorites peppered throughout the video, like Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Wrestler, 28 Days Later, 127 Hours, Garden State, Little Miss Sunshine, 500 Days of Summer, and Napoleon Dynamite
- The video is a reminder of the unique movies that Fox Searchlight makes, and will hopefully continue to make, while larger studios seem to focus on sequels and reboots or existing intellectual properties.
