Comedian Sherri Shepherd has signed on to star in a pilot for ABC for a new comedy called Black Don’t Crack.

- In January, ABC ordered three comedy pilots including a reboot of The Wonder Years, a comedy called Maggie, and Black Don’t Crack.
- The pilot is written and produced by Regina Hicks and producing partners include JuVee Productions (Viola Davis and Julius Tennon) and Wilmore Films (Larry Wilmore).
- Variety is reporting that Sherri Shepherd has signed on to star in the pilot, playing the lead character Angela Wright. She will also serve as a producer.
- The premise follows a single mom with unfulfilled dreams who rekindles her past joys after a personal crisis reunites her with her sorority sisters.
- The pilot will be directed by Kelly Park, who recently directed episodes of ABC’s Call Your Mother.
- Black Don’t Crack will fall under the ABC Signature brand of Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution.
