ESPN’s 30 for 30 is heading into the Gladiator Arena as they begin work on a documentary about the series American Gladiators.
What’s Happening:
- Deadline has reported that a documentary is in the works for ESPN’s 30 for 30 about American Gladiators.
- The documentary will feature many of the Gladiators from the reality show.
- Johnny Ferraro, the producer of the show, will also make an appearance in the documentary special.
- American Gladiators ran from 1989 through 1996 matching amateur athletes with the shows gladiators in a series of competitions as part of an overall tournament with the winner receiving a cash prize.
- Reruns of the show ran on ESPN Classic from 2007 through 2009. Reruns can now be seen on PlutoTV which has a dedicated channel to showing the series 24/7.
- A reboot of the show came to NBC in 2008.
- Deadline reports that Ben Berman will be directing with Danny Gabai, Jannat Gargi, and Andrew Freston as executive producers for Vice Studios.
