Disney fans and theater nerds are thrilled about the reopening of Broadway and next Tuesday May 11th, Disney on Broadway is going to make an announcement live on Good Morning America.
What’s Happening:
- A long time ago, Forbidden Broadway poked fun at Disney’s The Lion King, saying “What turns the Great White Way on is a cartoon drawn in crayon.” And while it might be silly to look back at this ancient parody, the fact that Broadway will soon be reopening makes the sentiment almost seem fitting.
- Earlier this week New York Governor Andrew Cuomo gave the okay for Broadway to fully reopen in September and Disney has already resumed ticket sales for their shows.
- Additionally, Disney on Broadway will make a live announcement on Good Morning America, on Tuesday morning.
- Both Disney on Broadway and GMA tweeted about the upcoming reveal which will air at or shortly after 7am ET!
More Disney on Broadway:
- Last week, Disney revealed the leads for the reimagined Beauty and the Beast which will kick off it’s tour in Europe later this year.
- Even though Frozen closed for good on Broadway, the show will take to the stage again for the West End production.
- When announcing the closure of Frozen, Disney Theatrical Productions shared that several other shows were still in various stages of development including Aida, The Jungle Book, Hercules, Bedknobs and Broomsticks and more.
