Jalyn Hall and Amir O'Neil have been cast in the lead roles of The Crossover, a Disney+ original series based on the Newbery Award-winning novel-in-verse of the same name, written by Kwame Alexander
What’s Happening:
- Author Kwame Alexander took to Twitter today to reveal a casting announcement for The Crossover, a Disney+ original series based on his novel of the same name.
- Josh and JB Bell will be portrayed by Jalyn Hall (The House with a Clock in Its Walls) and Amir O'Neil (Madagascar: A Little Wild).
- The Crossover tells the story of 14-year-old basketball phenom brothers Josh and JB Bell. The boys come of age on and off the court as their former pro-baller father adjusts to life after basketball and matriarch mother finally gets to pursue dreams of her own. This aspirational and emotional family drama is narrated entirely by Josh through his lyrical poetry.
- The show will be written by Kwame Alexander and Damani Johnson, with Dee Johnson (Nashville) supervising. The show will be directed by George Tillman Jr. (The Hate You Give, For Life).
- Filming of the pilot will take place in New Orleans.
