What’s Happening:
- Dr. Mark Penning announced on Instagram that Disney’s Animal Kingdom has a new zebra foal roaming the savanna.
- The name Dash was chosen because of his “spunky spirit and dash stripe on his left shoulder,” which is identical to one on his mom Heidi.
- You can try to spot Dash as he zooms around the savanna with his mom and the zebra herd close by when experiencing Kilimanjaro Safaris at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.
More on Dash by Dr. Mark Penning:
- “Dash is a Hartmann’s mountain zebra and the first zebra birth of the year. He was born as part of the Species Survival Plan, which is overseen by a highly trained team of Disney animal care experts working with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). These plans assure responsible breeding for endangered species, helping create healthy and genetically diverse populations of such animals for years to come.”
