SeaWorld Orlando is powering up the wayback machine for some vintage merchandise featuring some classic characters who once appeared at the park.
What’s Happening:
- While we have previously seen vintage “orange peel” merchandise hit the shelves of SeaWorld Orlando, today we spotted some new merchandise and apparel that features some familiar faces that we haven’t seen in quite a while.
- Shirts and pins featuring classic characters that were once featured at the park along with the cartoon-ified Shamu, including Virgil Pelican, Sir Winston Walrus, and Clyde and Seamore the sea lions. The shirts featuring the classic characters retail for $27.99.
- Along with the shirts, a blind-box mystery pin collection has also been spotted, with individual pins featuring the characters as well.
- SeaWorld opened back in 1964 and eventually had the characters emblazoned on merchandise, games, and apparel as well as walkaround forms for meet and greets. Though we currently see the merchandise featuring Virgil Pelican, Sir Winston Walrus, and Clyde and Seamore, there was also Dolly Dolphin and Shamu the Killer Whale (who can both be seen on the ensemble shirt) as well Pete and Penny Penguin, O.P. Otter, and the pirate Captain Kid. Captain Kid hosted a playground at the park long before it became Shamu’s Happy Harbor, which is the current home of Sesame Street Land.
