Walt Disney World has changed some of the wording on their official website regarding mask guidelines, and it could be a sign that they’ll stick around as Orange County lifts their mandates later this weekend.
What’s Happening:
- The official Walt Disney World website has changed some of the wording on their official website regarding mask guidelines at the park.
- The new wording seems to affect only theater-based shows and attractions, with the only change being prominent regarding theaters. Face coverings are still required as guests enter attractions and experience attractions and aboard Walt Disney World transportation.
- Currently, the guidelines on the official website read: “Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and up) and Cast Members. Please bring your own face coverings and wear them in all indoor locations, except when actively eating or drinking while stationary and maintaining appropriate physical distancing. Face coverings are optional in outdoor common areas at Walt Disney World Resort, but are still required upon entering and throughout all attractions, indoor theaters and transportation.”
- Previously, the wording in the guidelines regarding shows said that approved facial coverings/masks “were required at all theaters, including theater entrances” with the wording now changed to “indoor theaters.”
- Perhaps not so coincidentally, this change comes as Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings announced during his State of the County speech this morning that mandates would be lifted this weekend as vaccination rates increase and covid cases decrease.
- As such, Walt Disney World is private property and can keep these guidelines in place, with the phrasing change on the official Walt Disney World website indicating that may be the case for the time being.
