Searchlight is adding a little Magik to their upcoming film. Anya Taylor-Joy and Ralph Fiennes have reportedly joined the cast of the coming Searchlight Pictures film The Menu, according to Deadline.
- Taylor-Joy is still technically in negotiations to join the cast of the new film, while Fiennes reportedly closed a deal recently.
- Some of Taylor-Joy’s previous credits include the Netflix series The Queen’s Gambit as well as the final Fox X-Men spinoff film The New Mutants.
- She is also set to star in the viking drama The Northman and Edgar Wright’s thriller Last Night in Soho later this year.
- Fiennes is best known for his role as the iconic villain Voldemort in the Harry Potter franchise, but has also appeared in Schindler’s List, Quiz Show and more recently the James Bond film Spectre.
- He is also set to appear in the next Bond film No Time to Die as well as 20th Century Studios’ The King’s Man.
About The Menu:
- According to Deadline, The Menu is a “darkly comedic psychological thriller set in the world of eccentric culinary culture, centering on a young couple who visit an exclusive restaurant on a remote island where an acclaimed chef has prepared a lavish tasting menu.”
- Taylor-Joy is planned to play one half of the couple while Fiennes will play the chef.
The creative team:
- Mark Mylod, who is best known for his work on HBO’s Succession, will direct the new film.
- Adam McKay, one of the writers of Marvel’s Ant-Man, is set to produce under his Hyperobject Industries banner. He will be joined by Betsy Koch.
- The script comes from Will Tracy and Seth Reiss, the former of which worked with Mylod on Succession.
- Oversight from the studio will come from Searchlight’s SVP Production DanTram Nguyen and director of production Zahra Phillips.
