Walt Disney World President Jeff Vahle is celebrating the arrival of the first batch of College Program participants since the program resumed after being abruptly shut down last March.
What’s Happening:
- Walt Disney World Resort President Jeff Vahle has taken to Instagram to give a personal welcome back to the Disney College Program and share a moment with the first “CPs” who are getting ready to start making magic once again.
- Vahle captioned his photo set “Today was truly an exciting moment, welcoming back the Disney College Program and celebrating the arrival of our newest Cast Members. It was energizing to meet with some of these exceptional students and hear their excitement for starting their own Disney journey. So many of our leaders began their careers on the College Program, and I’m proud to see it continue to develop even more Cast for the future. As our industry and community continue to bounce back, we are focused on continuing our phased reopening and getting more people back to work. Check out @disneycareers for more information on full-time and part-time roles – and @officialdisneyprograms for more on the Disney College Program.”
- Last March, the parks of the Walt Disney World Resort were closed due to the Global pandemic and shortly thereafter, participants in the College Program (and others) were abruptly told their programs were over and would need to vacate Disney housing, though participants were paid through the end of the month and would have a successful program completion, allowing them to return to the company in the future. As the parks reopened that July, it was revealed that the student programs would be suspended indefinitely.
- Only in May did we learn that the College Program would resume, with applications being accepted shortly after that for the program’s resumption this month.
