Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary is coming up and Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be getting into the festivities with a new show called “Disney KiteTails,” premiering on October 1.
What’s Happening:
- Disney Parks Blog has announced a new show coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park in celebration of Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary titled “Disney KiteTails.”
- The new show will take place at the Discovery River Amphitheater starting October 1, 2021.
- “Disney KiteTails” will take place several times a day with performers flying windcatchers and kites of all shapes and sizes.
- Out on the water, elaborate three-dimensional kites will depict Disney animal friends including Simba, Zazu, Baloo, and King Louie. Some of them will be stretching out to 30 feet long.
- The kites will dance through the sky to favorite Disney songs.

- All four parks will be decked out with special celebratory decorations, including new lighting packages on the four park icons. These “Beacons of Magic” will transform the icons every night.
- Over at Magic Kingdom, a new fireworks show, “Disney Enchantment,” will light up the sky while Harmonious takes place as EPCOT.

- The Walt Disney World 50th License Plate has reached its pre-order goal and is available for Florida drivers to purchase.
- Walt Disney World Resort announced new nametags coming for Cast Members to celebrate the 50th anniversary including those who were honored with the Walt Disney Legacy Award.
“The World’s Most Magical Celebration,” starts on October 1, 2021 at the Walt Disney World Resort and will continue to be celebrated for 18 months.
