ESPN has announced that Maya Moore will receive the Arthur Ashe Courage Award during the ESPYS on July 10.
What’s Happening:
- WNBA superstar and activist Maya Moore will be receiving the Arthur Ashe Courage Award during the ESPYS.
- Moore, one of the best basketball players in the world at age 29, stepped away from the game to fight for a man named Jonathan Irons, who she believed was wrongly convicted of burglary and assault and sentenced to 50 years in prison.
- The award will be presented by Robin Roberts at the 2021 ESPYS on Saturday, July 10 at 8:00 pm ET on ABC, which will be hosted by Anthony Mackie.
- ESPN’s 30 for 30 will be taking a closer look at Moore’s story in “Breakaway,” premiering on July 13 at 9:00 pm ET on ESPN.
